Our recent experience in this area include:

 

• Due diligence: conducted due diligence on behalf of a Chinese international company in relation to a purchase of a commercial building in Nairobi;

• Purchase: represented a Kenyan company in the real estate sector in the purchase of various properties situated in Kenya;

​

• Purchase: represented a high net worth US national in the due diligence, structuring of the transaction to comply with Kenyan laws and purchase of a property in Lamu, a town in the Kenyan coast;

​

• Sale: represented a family-owned entity in the sale of a 3,600-acre ranch situated in Laikipia, Kenya and advised on repatriation of some of the proceeds of the sale;

​

• Purchase: represented a state corporation in due diligence and acquisition of properties in two Kenyan towns (Nyeri and Mombasa) intended for setting up of regional offices;

​

• Development: represented a real estate developer in the structuring and sale of units in a development located in South C in Nairobi;

​

• Compulsory acquisition: advised about 120 landowners in their negotiations with the Government of Kenya relating to the Government’s compulsory acquisition of their land for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Project Phases 1 and 2A in which the landowners were awarded a total compensation of approximately USD. 36 Million;

​

• Leases & licenses: advised a company in health and real estate sectors on leasing by doctors of serviced spaces in a newly established doctors’ plaza in Nairobi;

​

• Mortgage: acted for a Kenyan company in relation to the reconstruction of Land Registry Records at the Land Titles Registry at Nairobi and subsequent registration of charge documents to facilitate advance of loan facilities by a Kenyan bank;

​

• Change of user: acted for a state corporation in the reconstruction of land registry records and change of use from residential to office use with respect to a property situated in Nairobi, Kenya;

​

• Leases & licenses: acted for a real estate developer in the extension of lease by the Government of Kenya to facilitate property development and sale of units in the development situated in Nairobi, Kenya;

​

• Sale: Acted for a property developer based in Nanyuki Kenya in the subdivision of land and processing of subtitles with respect to units for sale;

​

• Amalgamation: advised on an amalgamation of two (2) pieces of land in Limuru Kenya to facilitate issuance and subsequent development of residential units for sale.

​

• Leases & licenses: acted for a real estate company in the application for digitization of its property records at the Land Registry through the National Lands Information Management System (the Ardhisasa platform) pursuant to the Land Registration Act, 2012; 

​

• Leases & licenses: acted for owners of residential units in an estate in Nairobi, Kenya in the conversion of titles from titles issued under the Registration of Titles Act (repealed) to the Land Registration Act, 2012 and advising on the ownership and issuance of titles for the common areas.
